Facts of Venus, the Hottest Planet in the Solar System

Venus - Venus is one of the closest planets to Earth. Like Earth, Venus also has a volcano, NASA quoted Space Place.

Venus turned out to have a hot temperature. In fact, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. The surface temperature of Venus can reach 880 degrees Fahrenheit (471 degrees Celsius).

Venus has mountains, valleys, and tens of thousands of volcanoes. The highest mountain on Venus, Maxwell Montes, is 20,000 feet (8.8 kilometers) high, similar to the highest mountain on Earth, Mount Everest.

Venus has a thick atmosphere filled with greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and clouds made of sulfuric acid. The gas traps heat and keeps Venus warm. In fact, on Venus it is so hot, metals such as lead will become a pool of melted liquid.

Venus rotates in the opposite direction to Earth and its rotation is very slow. This planet takes about 243 days on Earth to spin just once.

Because Venus is very close to the sun, a year goes by quickly. Venus takes 225 days on Earth to move around the sun. This means that one day on Venus is slightly longer than one year on Venus.

Because days and years are similar, a day on Venus is not like a day on Earth. If on Earth the sun rises and sets every day, on Venus the sun rises every 117 days on Earth.

This means the sun rises twice every year on Venus. Because Venus rotates in a different direction from Earth, the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

Like Mercury, Venus has no moon.

Uranus Facts, the Coldest Planet in the Solar System with 27 Months

Uranus - There are many planets in the solar system. One of the coldest planets in the solar system is Uranus.

Uranus is the seventh planet around the sun. In terms of size, the planet ranks third as the largest and fourth based on mass.

The following are the facts of the planet Uranus, quoted from Universe Today.

Coldest Planet

Planet Uranus orbits at a distance of 2.88 billion kilometers from the sun and is closer when compared to the planet Neptune approximately 4.5 billion kilometers. However, the proximity of Uranus to the sun does not make it warmer than Neptune.

Planet Uranus is known to have a cooler temperature of -201 degrees Celsius to the lowest of -218 degrees Celsius. While the temperature in the atmosphere reaches -197.2 degrees Celsius to -226 degrees Celsius.

That's because Uranus has little absorption of solar heat. While other planets have a core that radiates infrared so it produces more heat.

Uranus Rotates sideways

All the planets in the solar system rotate on its axis with a tilt similar to the sun. In many instances, planets have an axial slope, where one of the poles will tend towards the sun slightly.

For example, Earth has a rotational axis with a slope of 23.5 degrees from the sun. Likewise, Mars has a tilt angle of 24 degrees which results in seasonal changes on both planets.

Even so, compared to Mars and Earth, the planet Uranus has a unique rotation axis of 99 degrees. In other words, the planet rotates sideways. If you pay attention, then the movement will be similar to a rolling ball.

Have 27 Months

Like other planets, including Earth, Uranus has a natural satellite or moon that surrounds it. The number of moons on the planet Uranus is even more that the Earth has, at 27.

It's just that the size of the moon on Uranus tends to be smaller and irregular. If added together, the weight of the moon on Uranus does not reach half the weight of the moon held by the planet Neptune.

While the biggest months on Uranus are Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Oberon and Titania. The months have a diameter of 472 km, and for Miranda it has a diameter of 1,578 km. Ariel is the brightest moon while Umbriel is the darkest.

Has a Saturn-like Ring

The planet that is currently famous for its rings is Saturn. The planet has a ring that can be seen clearly and also colorful. Like the planet, Uranus also has a ring.

It's just that the ring owned by Uranus consists of particles that are very dark and vary in size. There are micrometer-sized and some are a fraction of a meter. That is why the ring on Uranus can hardly look like Saturn.
